My Birthday Plans: Nosferatu Screening and Subscription Updates

Hi my lovelies! How are we today?

It’s the eve of my birthday so I’m positively buzzing with pre-birthday excitement. My partner is taking me indoor skydiving tomorrow and as I’ve never done it, I’m excited to do something I’ve never done. (You can send me something/suggest something on my Throne Wishlist!)

That said, everyone’s abuzz with Nosferatu-fever, (see my Letterboxd Review, here) myself included. But I’m saving any thoughts I might have until I see it again with my bestie-and fellow author-Briana Morgan, on Saturday. I can’t wait to see it again! It doesn’t help that my partner has been mimicking Count Orlock’s wheezing drawl every time he talks to me and I can’t get enough of it. If you saw the movie, you know what I’m talking about. Lol.

Donations!

So I finally canceled my Patreon because I was no longer using it and decided to start a subscription/donations form on my site.

Currently, the newsletter is free but I’m thinking about adding a paid tier where readers can get short stories, snippets, and future discounts on short stories/books/swag I may sell.

Of course, one can always pay what they want.

Where You Can Find Me On Book-Reading Sites

I’m mainly on Bluesky now, as well as Fable, a fun-ish bookish site where you can join book clubs and whatnot, Goodreads, and Storygraph. Feel free to follow me as I attempt to read lots more this year and get back into the swing of enjoying (mostly) horror, fantasy, and romance books! You can see what I’m currently reading below! Got any suggestions? Feel free to let me know!

With Blood and Love,

S.C. Parris is the author of The Dark World series, and horror short story, A Night of Frivolity.

One soldier will bear the hopes of an empire

The Kettral were the glory and despair of the Annurian Empire – elite soldiers who rode war hawks into battle. Now the Kettral’s numbers have dwindled and the great empire is dying. Its grip is further weakened by the failure of the kenta gates, which granted instantaneous access to its vast lands.

To restore the Kettral, one of its soldiers is given a mission. Gwenna Sharpe must voyage beyond the edge of the known world, to the mythical nesting grounds of the giant war hawks. The journey will take her through a land that warps and poisons all living things. Yet if she succeeds, she could return a champion, rebuild the Kettral to their former numbers – and help save the empire. The gates are also essential to the empire’s survival, and a monk turned con-artist may hold the key to unlocking them.

What they discover will change them and the Annurian Empire forever – if they survive. For deep within the southern reaches of the land, a malevolent force is stirring . . .

The Empire’s Ruin is the first book in the epic Ashes of the Unhewn Throne trilogy by Brian Staveley.
