Blood Talk: Creating New Worlds

We needn’t paint obtuse colors of expression on our character’s faces all the time (I was a fan of this when I first started writing), their dialogue and small mannerisms can help paint a picture that can, with every little nuance, create a greater, more believable world.

I Realize I Never Did A Cover-Reveal On My Own Blog

He captured all the nuances of each book beautifully, and his attention to detail to character is astounding. I’m extremely happy with them.

Just so no one’s confused, however, I will say that these books follow a group of characters, as such there are scene dividers and threads of everyone’s story as the series progresses.

Hello!

This’ll be a quick post because I have to get back to reading a submission for Burning Willow, but obviously the site’s undergone a make over! I hope you all like it!

Okay besides the lovely logo design done by the marvelous Silivya, over at Dark Imaginarium Designs, I’ve also revamped (heh) the Book Section of my site, it’s now a much larger (much prettier, I think), page now and it gives you options to view between my series and ebook.

For the Love of…

If one day, perhaps, I’m walking down the street and just one person comes up to me, book in hand, eager for a signature, or to pick my brain about the story, I will know I have made it in my career. Aside from the conventions, the bookstore book signings, the (hopeful) cosplays of characters in my books, I will know I’ve made a difference by being myself, doing what I’ve always felt is best, and doing the hard work I know is necessary to reach all of my goals.

Cover Reveal: Thicker Than Blood by Lindsey Sablowski (EDITED)
THICKER THAN BLOOD is the third novel in the Magician’s Series by Miss Sablowski. “Alaire Sencler is not the man he used to be. He left behind a foul and bloody past to be with the woman he loves, but the memories never allow him to forget what he did. While the White magicians rise an army, their leader hides his true reasons for going to war. Meanwhile the Dark magicians seek out a new haven, one that might keep them hidden long enough to prepare for the war that is raging on outside their doorstep. Though Alaire has a…
My Oomph – Where Did It Go?
Wahey. I’ve no idea how to successfully start this new novel – I know, I know, I said I was writing again, and getting somewhere, but that was then – this is now, and holy cow is it difficult to get the ball rolling on The Two Swords. I don’t know if it’s because of the long day I’ve had at work, or if it’s the fact that I’m physically tired – I just dunno. The scene I’m working on now is fairly complacent – it’s not so much action-heavy as it is emotional-heavy, and I guess I just want…
Repost from S.C.Parris.com: Bloody Work
Bloody Work February 10, 2015 When you’re a writer, especially a writer who is vampire and fantasy-inclined like I am, you often find it…trying to sit down at your desk or couch or wherever your wandering inclination for tea takes you, and simply…write. I had numerous occasions to write The Two Swords when I wasn’t attending school, and did I write? Here and there, flittering aimlessly through the ‘where are these characters taking me?’ to the ever-present, ‘oh damn I should just start this all over and make a story that makes sense!’ Thankfully, none of these things truly won…
Visibility
So you know that pesky Facebook change that’s coming at the dawn of the new year? No? Well, it’s a little thing that reduces visibility on Facebook Pages, like mine above, and well…everyone who has a Facebook Page for their business. It sucks for a few reasons. One of ’em is that, we already can’t get our posts we DO posts on there visible to all of the people that have ‘liked’ our page (we have to pay for further visibility to really get anyone interested in our content), and they decided to make it so you have to click…
Creativity At Long Last; Burning Willow Press

I have a lot to talk about in this post as it’s been a long time since I’ve shared, I know. For one, I’m fully moved into my new apartment, and more days at work aside, with classes wrapping up for the third week of December, I have decidedly more time to focus on my goals: ◾Getting The Two Swords to the editor by the end of December, ◾Receiving, and reviewing some fantasy submissions to my dear friend’s new publishing company, Burning Willow Press, to which I am the fantasy acquisitions editor. (Call it a fun hobby if you will.) Please send some my way! ◾And lastly, writing to this blog more, sharing more of my writing exploits, and where possible the personal.
