Repost from S.C.Parris.com: Bloody Work

Bloody Work

February 10, 2015

When you’re a writer, especially a writer who is vampire and fantasy-inclined like I am, you often find it…trying to sit down at your desk or couch or wherever your wandering inclination for tea takes you, and simply…write.

I had numerous occasions to write The Two Swords when I wasn’t attending school, and did I write? Here and there, flittering aimlessly through the ‘where are these characters taking me?’ to the ever-present, ‘oh damn I should just start this all over and make a story that makes sense!’

Thankfully, none of these things truly won out and now with school, work, keeping house, reading acquisitions for Burning Willow Press, making Blood Talk videos, and thinking of my story when not writing (which is far too often I’m afraid), I’ve finally set aside the time to just write – and that is all – most – of what I plan to do today. Get the story at least half-way complete.

I’m writing this blog post because it is long overdue, and to remind myself that I have something to talk about, that I have something to share (because I often think I don’t), and to keep my goals in-line with everything I’ve done so far.

It’s not having a book out that makes one a writer, it’s actually sitting down and taking the time to write.

After all, the book is the end product which makes you an author, the work itself, the time it took to write the thing, to always come back for more, is what will always make you a writer.

With Blood and Love,

P.S. What other amazing inspiration is there for writing ones book besides another mock cover?

Isn’t it wonderful? Thanks, again! R. A. Moore!

Get To Know Christian Delacroix
I got the finished art for Christian Delacroix from the lovely FeySpeaker during stream on Friday! If you missed the Newsletter that went out earlier today, check out the abridged version below! He is known as Jack the Ripper by the greater London (human) public because of is proclivity to leave his victims where he kills them.He is not as beloved as his brother and as such other Vampires look down on his actions as they often bring unwanted attention to Vampire kind.Seeks to prove himself to his brother and all Vampires at large.Allows his bloodlust to consume him.Of course, there’s…
Excerpt from Current Vampire-Pirate Work in Progress, SINNER SHARPE
A taste of the new fantasy world I’m conjuring! Some explanation before we jump into it: I started writing this series several years ago, after getting inspired by Glen Cook’s THE BLACK COMPANY series. I wanted to write about a swashbuckling mercenary who has the job of a lifetime, I just couldn’t get the stakes right. If you were a patron of mine, then you know all about Sinner Sharpe and how it went from strictly a pirate fantasy adventure to a vampire-infested pirate…horror adventure. You see, I was stuck on it for years — unable to get past Chapter 1. Literally the other…
Get To Know Xavier Delacroix
If you completely missed the tweet of me freaking out over the art the lovely  @feyspeaker  made of one of the main characters in THE DARK WORLD series the other day, you missed almost crying about how wonderful the art came out.It was so serendipitous to receive the finished artwork while on stream. Because of this, I’m much more inclined to finally go ahead and do a character dossier like I had planned since the beginning of the series but couldn’t because there wasn’t any art for it.So here it is! He is about 30 something years old in human…
