Rubbing Elbows, Six Sentence Sunday, and A Complete Change In Life

I had work yesterday, but my family had a BBQ. After an incredibly tiring afternoon of work, I got tipped (yes!) and headed home to eat food and converse with my lovely family. Eventually, a friend from high school brought his friend and she was incredibly interested in my book. I grabbed it for her and she read the Prologue and didn't stop.

It got me smiling.

As she read, she commended the characters and the detail etched into the scenery. I must be doing something right no matter how much I think I'm not, right?

I gave her and her friend my business card and enjoyed the rest of my night.

I'm currently writing more of The Immortal's Guide, in time for the Halloween deadline (which has been met with praise by many for it's lovely timing).

And since it's Sunday, I'll leave you lovely folks with a Six Sentence Sunday post:

“Ewer,” she said at once, “you are back.”

“Yes, my child,” Ewer Caddenhall said with a warm smile, his sharp red eyes flashing. “Where is he?”

“Darien or the other?” she asked him, her expression resolving to that of slight discomfort.

Ewer stepped to her and he clearly towered over her here as he was so wonderfully tall. “Darien, of course..."

From The Immortal's Guide: Another Delacroix Novel, Chapter One: The Guest coming Halloween 2012!

These particular sentences stem from a scene where the infamous Caddenhall family has returned to their home. And as we see here, Ewer, the oldest remaining Caddenhall member is to speak to his Master, the mysterious Darien Nicodemeus. What will happen next?

You can pick up The Dark World: A Delacroix Novel to see! (The first part of The Guest is in the back of the book!) Just something to satiate your urges before The Immortal's Guide becomes available online.

Keep your bite.

Quick Update! Writing Up A Storm And Creating New Content
This will be super short as my lengthier posts are now on my patreon, but I just wanted to say that I am still writing if you’re not keeping up with me on Twitter, and I’m writing quite a bit.I’m currently working on DRACULA: Book 6 of The Dark World series and as of this […]
Feature: Author Georgina Kiersten’s Blog – “15 Books By Black Authors You Should Read This Halloween”

The email was all about her latest blog post where she showcased 15 books by black authors readers should read for Halloween.

I scrolled through it, admittedly hoping my name would be on there — and it was!

This Short Story Has Gripped Me (Here’s a Sneak Peek!)

I just as in JUST NOW started writing the short story THE UNWANTED GUEST, this is that haunted house short story I said I was gonna write like a year ago. I’m finally get around to it. Before this, though, there were three other fairly short in both length and depth stories that I wrote for the month of October to get new readers.

But this one, the haunted house one, it’s different from the jump.

Saying “No” or Why I Want to Write Consistently

I want to create, I want to write, I want to see the difference my words are making either on the page or on the screen. Social media algorithms are all well and good but there is nothing for me like knowing my words have impacted someone, either through my creative works or through the company I’m writing for.

Books and Tea: Meet the Members | S.C. Parris – Northern Plunder

I got to be apart of a cool introductory post feature on an awesome person's (Lauren) blog. It's for her online book club: Books and Tea through Discord.

Excitement in an Old WiP & Black Faces in Fantasy Literature

But upon coming back to it the other day I did, I remember reading over my work and thinking, "Why isn't she [the MC with all the knowledge and power], black?" There was no reason she couldn't be after all, and I'd been inspired by all of the covers with black protagonists I'd seen in the fantasy section of Barnes and Noble, understanding an apt confusion for readers when they would see my DARK WORLD series and not see any black characters on the covers, though there are black characters in the world.

Writing Amidst Doubt

Like any writer, I face doubt. Not often, as I choose to focus on my work and what I'm doing and contributing to literature (not much lol), but as of late, the doubt has crept in and is, for the moment at least, here to stay.
